WSSCC Developing Roster of Senior Consultants for Sanitation and Hygiene Programming Support

The Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) is currently recruiting to populate a roster of Senior Consultants Sanitation and Hygiene Programming Support. Placement on the roster will enable consultants to be contracted on a retainer basis to provide support to WSSCC’s country-level work in a variety of countries in Africa and Asia.  The purpose of these consultancies is to strengthen WSSCC’s range of activities around equity and sustainable and integrated hygiene and sanitation behaviour change at scale, within four main task areas:

Programme support: strengthen equity and hygiene and sanitation behaviour change programming aspects in GSF programmes in selected countries by providing technical support to programmes.

Capacity strengthening: Directly respond to programme capacity needs in relation to equity and/or hygiene and sanitation behaviour change; where appropriate develop capacity building materials or tools; advise WSSCC on the development of systems for equity and/or sanitation and hygiene behaviour change related capacity development.

Learning: In line with the 2012-2016 Medium Term Strategic Plan, inform WSSCC’s sustainable behaviour change and equity related learning agenda.

Country scoping and strategic programme development: Scoping, sector reviews and relationship building to support identification of new programme countries for WSSCC engagement.

The incumbents are professional specialists who are based in or have spent extended periods of time in one or more of WSSCC’s programme countries in Africa and Asia including but not limited to: Bangladesh, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Ethiopia, India, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Senegal, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda.

  6. WSSCC has advertised its roster for senior consultants several times in the past few years. Personally, I have applied at least twice if not three times. How can an applicant find out if his or her application was successful, ie, if he or she was added to the roster? Is there a mechanism by which the Council acknowledges applicants?

    I am a B.Sc. degree holder from Bahir Dar University in water resources engineering and I have been working intensively as team member of emergency humanitarian aid workers in various international non-government organizations under various emergency situations as WaSH expert and I have been contributing for many WASH interventions at various levels for the last days more than five years. During my first engagement on job I was hired as graduate assistant II/instructor of construction technology in Assosa Poly-technical College where I exercised academic activities from September/2010 18-April 2011. Next to that due to my desire to work field engineering works I joined Benishangul Gumuz regional water bureau as water supply engineer (May-Dec 2011) working on design, supervision and management of different water supply schemes in the region. On the beginning of 2012 due to better job opportunity I joined International Rescue Committee-Assosa field office as Assistant Environmental Health/WASH officer and contributed for local WASH development program up to Feb 06/2013. Then within the same organization I was promoted to Environmental Health/WaSH Officer and transferred to Gambela program area to assist the local emergency program and water supply construction in Pugnido refugee camp until I resigned on sept 10/2013 due to family case. From October 14/2013-March 31/2014 I have been working as emergency WaSH officer in international Medical Corps-East Hararghe program. From 8th Aug. 2014-June 31/2015 I was working as Senior public health engineering officer in OXFAM- Great Britain on emergency water supply for Kule refugee camp from August 8/2014-July 31/2015, From oct/2015 to may 2016 I have been working as Senior WaSH officer a team leading position ofinternational Medical corps WaSH response in four woredas of South Gondar and North Wollo of Amhara region, Ethiopia.
