UNICEF is building up a roster of Gender Equality Specialists to fill short to long-term positions around the world, including in consultancy assignments. Successful candidates will work with UNICEF Offices and our partners including governments in promoting programmes plans and policies which mainstream gender and contribute to gender equality results.
• Gender expertise is sought in all areas of UNICEF programming including: child survival and development; education; HIV/AIDS; child protection; and especially in policy advocacy for children’s rights.
• UNICEF is also seeking expertise with regard to mainstreaming gender equality considerations into business processes and practices, including results-based management, human rights-based approach to programming, common country programming process (CCPP), human resources management and resource tracking.
Candidate Profile:
Ideal candidates will be familiar with development and humanitarian programming and the operating environment of intergovernmental organizations. They will combine formal expertise on gender mainstreaming and gender equality with experience of applying these concretely to programmes, plans, policies and business processes. They will be able to communicate ideas in a manner conducive to their practical application, and be comfortable working as part of a team to add value to collective results.
Qualifications:
Advanced university degree in social sciences with some specific qualification relating to gender equality; a minimum of eight (8) years of direct working experience in promoting gender equality and gender mainstreaming within UNICEF’s program areas; excellent facilitation and communication skills; English proficiency required, and other UN languages highly desirable.
